The Creative Disruption Movement and You
Why artists, visionaries, and everyday changemakers are stepping into the Creative Disruption movement.
When a Book leads you to something bigger
Something remarkable has been happening over the past several months. What began as a book has quietly started becoming a movement. Since November 2025, Creative Disruption: How Artists and Innovators Build Influence, Drive Change, and Shape the Future has been making its way into communities across the country. Readers are sharing it with friends. Ministries are studying it together. Colleges and seminaries are discussing it in classrooms. Nonprofits are using it as a framework for leadership and social change.
The Second Edition of Creative Disruption is available for order now. Get the book that is fueling our movement by using the button below.
I have watched this unfold with deep gratitude.
Schools are teaching it.
Ministries are reflecting on it.
Organizations are using it to imagine new possibilities.
When I began writing this book, I had no idea how quickly the idea would travel. But something in this moment is calling people toward creativity, imagination, and courage. And that calling is what I want to talk with you about today.
When the Idea Arrived
In early 2023, I remember feeling unsettled about the state of our world. Many of the systems around us felt rigid. Communities were struggling to move forward. People everywhere seemed to be asking the same question.
How do we create a better future when the systems we rely on feel stuck?
I carried that question with me for weeks. Then one day, quite unexpectedly, two words came into my spirit with clarity.
Creative Disruption
I wrote them down immediately. I did not yet know what they fully meant, but I knew they mattered. Over time, those two words began to unfold into an idea. I started speaking about them with artists, faith leaders, and community organizers. I began noticing how often creativity had been the force that helped societies imagine new possibilities before institutions were ready to change.
Artists have always done this work. They help us see what others cannot yet see.
They expand the imagination of communities. They challenge the status quo. And in moments of uncertainty, their work becomes even more important. That exploration eventually became the book.
Why Creative Disruption Matters Now
Creative disruption is the idea that creativity is not decoration. Creativity is strategy. It is the power to imagine something different and then begin building it. Throughout history, artists, storytellers, musicians, and cultural visionaries have helped societies move forward when traditional systems could not. They paint the future before the world recognizes it. And right now we need that kind of imagination more than ever.
The Second Edition
Because of the growing interest in this work, the second edition hardcover of Creative Disruption is now being printed. Signed copies are available, and readers are ordering them for classrooms, ministries, community groups, and leadership programs. Every person who reads the book helps carry the idea further. Help us carry the message forward.
Why I Recorded the Video
Recently I recorded a short video sharing the story behind the phrase Creative Disruption and why I believe artists and visionaries have an essential role to play in shaping the future. It is a personal reflection about where this idea came from and why it continues to matter so deeply to me. If you have a few minutes, I invite you to watch.
Join the Conversation in Hartford
If you are in Connecticut, I would love to see you in person for an upcoming conversation.
On April 7 we will gather at the Hartford Public Library for a public discussion about Creative Disruption.
The conversation will be moderated by one of Connecticut’s most respected hosts, John Henry Smith, and hosted by Andre Kitt.
The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited so please Register below.
We will explore how creativity can influence culture, challenge systems, and help communities imagine another world. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. If you know a creative with a passion for social change, share this substack with them now.
The Creative Disruption Movement
Here is the most important part. Creative disruption is not reserved for artists alone. It belongs to anyone who believes imagination can change the world.
You may be a teacher rethinking what education can become.
You may be a minister nurturing belonging in your community.
You may be a nonprofit leader searching for new approaches to social change.
You may be an artist who senses your creativity carries a deeper message.
Creative disruptors are people who are willing to imagine possibilities that others cannot yet see. They challenge what is broken. They create what does not yet exist. And they understand that every transformation begins in the imagination.
Your Invitation
If this message resonates with you, I invite you to take part in the movement.
Read the book.
Share the idea with others.
Bring creative disruption into your organization or community.
Attend a conversation or gathering.
Most importantly, begin asking the question that sits at the heart of this work. What might change if creativity became our strategy for transformation? Movements grow through conversation. They grow through imagination. And they grow when people recognize that they have a role to play.
Thank you for walking this path with me.
Belong deeply.
Rise boldly.
Thrive fully.
Disrupt to create.
